AUGERS OF EXTRUDERS
The company AWELD has years of experience with the production and renovation of extruders. Extruders are made using the technology of welding and usually have wear-resistant layer. The most common way is chrome carbide and tungsten carbide hardfacing.
The ways of hardfacing are always modified to the particular conditions and requirements of every single customer. AWELD has developed their own wear protection method based on the use of ceramic plates – see the particular chapter. The basic ways of hardfacing are – AWELD STANDARD, AWELD ECONOMY, AWELD LIGHT (see the figure)

Extruder chamber linings
Extruder chamber linings are usually made from steel plate. They can be supplied with special stripes of spiral or straight shape with wear-resistant hardfacing. In case of highly abrasive materials, we recommend linings with hardfacing overlay both on the stripes themselves as well as in space among them. In the majority of such cases, the stripes are attached to the backside to prevent the abrasion of welds or coming off the stripes. Linings without stripes can be also supplied with wear-resistant overlay covering the whole surface. Linings are made in all common sizes, i.e. diameters and lengths. The shape of lining can be either cylindrical, conical or oval. AWELD produces extruder pressure chambers up to the diameter of 1000 mm. Chambers of their own design are made as weldments of steel or stainless materials. Thanks to well-managed technology of production, the company is able to perform custommade reconstructions and renovations of extruders according to the customers´ requirements – see chapter Reconstructions and overhauls.
