EXTRUDERS FOR THE PRODUCTION OF TECHNICAL CERAMICS
AWELD has great experience with the production and renovation of extruders used in the production of technical ceramics. Extruders are produced from stainless steel using two technologies – welding or machining. Extruders for the production of technical ceramics usually have wear-resistant chrome carbide or tungsten carbide hardfacing. The hardfacing can be also made using material of Stellit type. The company has developed their own wear protection method based on the use of ceramic plates – see the particular chapter. Taking into consideration requirements of our customers, we choose the best and optimal method of hardfacing to meet the conditions of every single customer. Extruders can be produced with inner water cooling system that prevents the overheating of extruded mass.

Extruder chamber linings
Extruder chamber linings are usually made from steel plate. They can be supplied with special stripes of spiral or straight shape with wear-resistant hardfacing. In case of highly abrasive materials, we recommend linings with hardfacing overlay both on the stripes themselves as well as in space among them. In the majority of such cases, the stripes are attached to the backside to prevent the abrasion of welds or coming off the stripes. Linings without stripes can be also supplied with wear-resistant overlay covering the whole surface. Linings are made in all common sizes, i.e. diameters and lengths. The shape of lining can be either cylindrical, conical or oval.
AWELD produces extruder pressure chambers up to the diameter of 1000 mm. Chambers of their own design are made as weldments of steel or stainless materials. Chambers can be produced with inner water cooling system that prevents the overheating of extruded mass.
